I often joke about how every day is a "National *Something* Day", but this is one that I can get excited about. I'm a father of nine (with ten grandkids) but sadly, none of them live nearby. In my younger days, I always chuckled (at least on the inside) when i saw older folks showing off photos of their canine "children". Now that I'm AARP-eligible, I find myself doing the same thing. Of course, the pics aren't in my wallet... they're on my iPhone.
Here are our "furkids": Lily, Yaco, and Monkey. Lily will be 5 in June, Yaco is 10, and Monkey's 14 (we adopted him at 12). All three are chihuahuas, although Monkey does have some pug in his mix.
And they're wonderful apartment dogs. Sure, they can be a little yippy when they get excited. But my wife Juli and I wouldn't trade them for anything, and I can't imagine what our lives would be like without them.
And yes, they love watching me eat (actually hoping that I'll drop something)!
