Tropical Trouble Coming From Atlanta??

It's the reverse of what we're used to. Instead of tropical moisture from the Gulf moving NORTH, a trough of low pressure is moving SOUTH from Georgia into the Gulf. And the National Hurricane Center says a tropical depression is LIKELY to form by the end of this week.

It's way too soon to tell how strong this could be or where it will go. Current projections include the entire central Gulf Coast from the Big Bend of Florida through Louisiana.

Barry is the next name on the list for tropical storms/hurricanes this season. But whether it becomes Barry or not, we can expect heavy rainfall from this system along the Gulf Coast.

Rain could be a good thing... giving relief from extremely high temperatures, and maybe even helping break up the toxic algae that has closed Mississippi beaches.

Now's a good time to make sure you have your hurricane supplies in place. Even if you don't need them this weekend, it's still near the beginning of hurricane season ... we have a long way to go!
