Mardi Gras Parade Closures in Downtown Pensacola

The City of Pensacola is increasing parade safety by adding additional road closures to future parades, including the annual Krewe of Lafitte Illuminated Mardi Gras Parade and Pensacola Grand Mardi Gras Parade in Downtown Pensacola Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1.

The actual route of the parades does not change. However, road closures on the east and west side of the parade area are expanding one block. Tarragona Street will be the new boundary on the east (previously Jefferson Street) and DeVilliers Street will be the new boundary on the west (previously Reus Street).

Additionally, East and West Main Street will be closed to traffic. This was previously open during parades.

  • Friday, Feb. 28: Road closures begin around 5:30 p.m. The Parade begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 1: Road closures begin around 11 a.m. The parade begins at 2 p.m.

Main Street closures will begin one hour before the Friday and Saturday parades and will re-open immediately following the conclusion of the parades.

There will be no parking directly on the parade route, including the City Hall parking lot. Vehicles will be towed if found on the immediate parade route at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 and 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1.

Drivers and pedestrians are reminded to use caution in the area and follow all posted signage.

For drivers looking to avoid parade traffic, the best detour for east-west traffic is to use 9th Avenue or A Street to Cervantes Street.
