Details are starting to unfold about Disney's highly anticipated sequel to Hocus Pocus. Director Adam Shankman was scheduled to direct both Disenchanted and Hocus Pocus 2. However due to scheduling, Disney has now tapped Shankman's friend Anne Fletcher to direct the film. Fletcher is best known for directing 2009's The Proposal and the 2006 hit Step Up.
Hocus Pocus 2 will see each of the Sanderson sister gals return to Salem with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprising their roles as the devilish Winifred, Sarah, and Mary. The script was written by Jen D'Angelo and more details on the project are being kept very secret. Production begins this summer and fall in much of the greater Boston community with a tentative 2022 Disney+ and theater release date.
Hocus Pocus was released in 1993 and was dubbed a blockbuster fail, but over the last few decades it has proven to become a Halloween cult classic racking in millions for Disney through the years.
