CMT announces "Nashville" to end after season six!

The final chapter in the story of Nashville begins in January.

The hit country music drama will conclude after its forthcoming sixth season, CMT announced Friday (Nov. 17).

Marshall Herskovitz, the show’s executive producer, promises the series’ final bow will feature “all the joys and passions, twists and turns—and amazing music!—that made Nashville such an exciting journey for the last six years.”

“All of us on Nashville are so incredibly grateful to the show's fans, who convinced CMT to give us a chance to keep telling the story of these remarkable characters,” says Herskovitz of the network’s decision to bring back the series in 2016.

Nashville’s run included more than 100 episodes, 5 million singles sold and several world tours. Its final season will include 16 episodes with the series finale slated for Summer 2018.

Season six begins Thursday, January 4 at 9/8c on CMT.
