When you sing a song called “Female,” why not have the most important one in your life join you on it?
That’s exactly what Keith Urban did with his brand-new single about women. The country star’s wife Nicole Kidman—alongside one of its songwriters, Nicolle Gaylon—provides the coo-ing background vocals in “Female.”
“I thought it was nice and very personal to blend these girls into the song because it just felt very, very right and that’s what the song means to me,” Keith tells The Associated Press.
The timely song, Keith adds, "is less about recent scandals surrounding sexual assault on women, and more about lifting women up.“
I heard the song more as a, almost like a soul gospel, spiritual mantra,” Keith says. “Particularly the chorus of the song is absolutely pure celebration of female. It’s beautiful.”No official word on any further new releases from Keith.
