Luke Bryan may not have gotten a golden ticket to Hollywood.
The country superstar and new judge on ABC’s American Idol tells CMT's Cody Alan exclusively that he’s not sure he would have gotten a “yes” if he had ever auditioned for the iconic singing competition.
“I don’t know if I would have made it to Hollywood when I was 16, 18 years old,” Luke tells Cody from his Farm Tour stop in Springfield, Illinois. “A lot of these kids play multiple instruments, they’ve written pretty good songs..."
"We’ve tried to stress to these kids, ‘You’re not a “no.” You’re just a “not yet.”’ We’re trying to move them through to have a tangible, legitimate shot to win American Idol. It’s daunting being truthful to people, but it’s fun, too.”
Luke goes on to say he’s “having more fun” on Idol than he thought and there’s “nothing is more exciting than having a person stand in front of you and just lay their heart and soul out there for you.”
