Lauren Alaina is no stranger to the small screen, and she’s coming back to TV in a feature film.
CMT has announced it will air Road Less Traveled, a film released earlier this year and starring the American Idol in her first acting role.
Lauren plays “Charlotte” in the flick, which sees the successful songwriter return to her hometown of Harmony, Tennessee, to plan her upcoming wedding. But an unexpected reunion with her first love derails Charlotte’s plans.
“She’s kind of like me, but not like me, which helped because I don’t know how I would’ve done with a role where I’m supposed to be like a British woman married with kids,” Lauren recently told reporters in Nashville. “I loved it and I think it’s a way for me to be able to entertain and to tie in the music. It really worked out well that we were able to do the music with the movie as well, so it’s cool.”
The film borrows its name from Lauren’s first No. 1 hit “Road Less Traveled,” which is also the title track of her latest album.
Look for Lauren in Road Less Traveled, the movie, premiering Friday, November 10, at 10/9c on CMT.
