Kelly Clarkson is looking to a bloody dreadful inspiration when she makes her debut on The Voice.
The original American Idol champion tells Extra! on set of her cover shoot for Variety Power of Women Los Angeles that she hopes to be âa little bit like Simon Cowellâ when she begins a stint on The Voice next season.
âFor the most part, I love his honesty,â Kelly says of one of Idolâs infamously mean judge. âThis is not a nice industry. People think I am going to be super nice all the time. I am nice. But I also want to keep it real.â Kelly also keeps it real about why she chose to coach on The Voice rather than judge on American Idol. âFor American Idol, you have to travel. And it excites me to do something different. Iâm not going to lie. Iâm stoked about pushing the red button,â she says.
Pick up Kelly as well as Octavia Spencer, Priyanka Chopra, Michelle Pfeiffer and others on covers of the new Power of Women issues of Variety.
