She’s the most successful winner ever of American Idol, and she happens to call country music her home. But will Carrie Underwood soon call the show’s highly anticipated reboot her home, too? A new Variety report states the season four winner “has held serious talks with ABC and producers about joining American Idol as a judge.” While nothing further is known at this time, Carrie once predicted the revival of the show that made her a household name.
“I really wouldn’t be surprised if a few years down the road ... it comes back,” Carrie revealed exclusively to CMT’s Cody Alan in 2016. “I hope they figure out some way ... we see it come back bigger and better than ever. You never know.” With support like that for Idol’s comeback, the likelihood of a judge Carrie isn’t too far-fetched.
While word is ABC is on the hunt for a panel of the show’s biggest alums to serve as judges, Katy Perry is confirmed. Other names rumored to be in consideration for roles include Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry and Coldplay’s Chris Martin. ABC is expected to give an update on the rebooted show soon.
