Garth Brooks and Lady Gaga are gaga for each other. The country megastar revealed during a show this past weekend at SXSW that Mother Monster is among one of his current favorite artists, adding he believes “she’s a fabulous writer.” But Gaga was first to express her fandom for the big G.
In an interview with Rolling Stone before the release of her country-influenced new album Joanne, this year’s Super Bowl headliner revealed her affinity for Garth stems from her childhood. “When I was little, my father used to play ‘I’ve Got Friends in Low Places’ really loud in the basement, and I’d catch him down there dancing by himself, screaming real loud,” she recalls. “I thought it was cool.” Could this be the start of a musical friendship and potential music collaboration?
