People magazine is predicting the all-genre “Best New Artist” win will go to country’s own Maren Morris.
If the “My Church” singer does take the gold, it will be the first time a country artist has won in the category since Zac Brown Band took it in 2010. Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood in 2007 was the last female country act to win the trophy. Maren’s competition for “Best New Artist” in 2017 includes Chance the Rapper, the Chainsmokers, Anderson .Paak and fellow rising country superstar Kelsea Ballerini.
Not since 2001 has the all-genre newcomer category included two country acts. James Corden will host the the 59th annual Grammy Awards from Los Angeles February 12 on CBS.
