Duane Hansen of Syracuse Nebraska grew the giant gourd named "Berta" for almost a decade before recently hollowed it out and created a cooler inside that allowed it to float for a river journey.
That made it possible for him to set the world record for the "longest journey by a pumpkin boat" as Hansen paddled "SS Berta" for 11 hours. The pumpkin weighed 846 pounds!
Rumor has it there were cheers, tears, and swollen knees...but what a fun celebration! And just in time for Pumpkin Spice Season....wait...is it too soon?! ~Shelby
