West end of Dauphin Island flooded

DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (WPMI) — Those who remained in Dauphin Island’s west end are on their own until water subsides or they have a vessel that will take them inland.

The main road, Bienville, is impassable. Police were using a Humvee to get Raphael Semmes Street earlier Tuesday, when NBC 15’s Cassie Fambro toured the flooded west end with Corporal Mike Bailey shortly after 5:00 p.m.

When we toured the flooded area, the water was halfway up the Humvee’s tire, measuring about 17 inches.

After 7:00, it was at least three feet deep as water continues to push into the island.
