Tropical Storm Michael, is almost a hurricane. Tropical Storm Michael is currently 120 miles ENE of Cozumel, Mexico is predicted to mature into a hurricane on today as it barrels toward the Gulf Coast.
On the forecast track, the center of the storm will rake over the Yucatan Channel or extreme western Cuba today.
Then, it's set to cross the eastern Gulf later today through Tuesday night, and approach the Gulf Coast Wednesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles.
The newest forecast models show landfall should most likely occur between the Florida Panhandle and the Big Bend of Florida Wednesday.
Mobile County and Baldwin Counties are currently not in the cone of uncertainty, but Pensacola is inside the cone. Keep in mind, the impacts of tropical systems go outside the cone. We should not lower our guard.
