Local schools forced into Lockdown mode

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WPMI) — A local teen is facing charges after a "rumor" forced multiple schools near Pensacola into lock down.

Parents flooded Jim Bailey Middle School as soon as they started receiving texts from their children around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The school called parents telling them security had been heightened, and deputies say not only was Jim Bailey Middle put on lock down.

So was the nearby Helen Carp Elementary School.

Deputies searched the middle school and there was no gun they says it was a rumor.

Deputies ended up arresting a 15-year-old 8th grader for allegedly starting the rumor there was a gun on campus.

That teen is being charged with disruption of school function.
