Many who have moved to the Gulf Coast from Birmingham probably know Meteorologist James Spann. James is one of the top weathermen in the country and our state. Yesterday as he was trying to keep his viewers in Birmingham safe, he found out his home was struck by a tornado. Although his home sustained severe damage from the storm, James' wife, who was at home at the time the storm struck was found safe and unharmed.
As a side note, James and I grew up as close friends, next door neighbors as kids in Tuscaloosa. I hold many fond memories of James and his lovely mom Caroline, my second mom, as a young child through my teenage years. They are truly great people. Although saddened to hear this news for all other families affected by this storm, I am very happy to know the Spann family is ok. Good luck with the clean up and repair James.
