USS MOBILE COMMISSIONING and “TARDY GRAS” PARADE- Parade Friday at 6:30pm, downtown Mobile, followed by fireworks at 9:30pm over the Mobile River; Commissioning Ceremony Saturday at 10am

The future USS Mobile (LCS 26), the U.S. Navy’s newest Independence-class littoral combat ship, will be commissioned at the

Alabama State Port Authority. Mayor Sandy Stimpson says this is a historical event for the U.S. Navy, Austal and the City of Mobile; it’s rare for a ship to be built, christened and commissioned in the city it’s named after.

Due to COVID restrictions, the event is closed to the public, but will be live streamed HERE.  

The city is celebrating with the USS Mobile Dedication Parade, a Mardi Gras style parade on Friday night at 6:30pm in downtown Mobile, followed by fireworks at 9:30pm over the Mobile RiverCLICK HERE

The Publix Grandman Triathlon is the #1 sprint triathlon in Fairhope. Swim 1/3-mile, bike 18 miles, and run 3.1 miles through beautiful downtown Fairhope and along scenic Mobile Bay. Grandma is also hosting the Publix Virtual Triathlon this year from May 22 -- June 6 for racers who prefer not to race in person just yet.
