What's the scariest movie of all time? Science has the answer.
A new study ranked the most terrifying horror flicks by monitoring viewers’ average heart rates. And according to the BroadBandChoices "Science of Scare" project, the movie that got hearts pumping the most was 2012's Sinister, starring Ethan Hawke.
Viewers experienced a 32% rise in their heart rate, on average – from 65 beats per minute to 86.
However, Insidious had the scariest moment with an average jump to 133 bpm, while Sinister's moment had hearts rising to 131 bpm.
