Spanish Fort Man Creates Quarantine Sports League

I was going to take my hubby for our anniversary to the axe-throwing place in Spanish Fort - perfect gift for a Fireman right? Well we will probably wait until Coronapocolypse is over. I was very intrigued to see this story (thanks Keith Lane at WPMI NBC 15)! These guys created their own official quarantine sports league!

"Due to COVID-19 the World Axe Throwing League (WATL) had to cancel their upcoming Spring League, affecting thousands of throwers all over the world. Additionally, the ESPN aired championship, the Canadian Open was also canceled.

In response, members (based in Spanish Fort) created Quarantine Axe Throwing League, aka QATL.

Mario Zelaya, founder of WATL, QATL, and the Founder of Bad Axe Throwing ,which is also based out of Spanish Fort said,

'We already have more than 300 ax throwers signed up around the world. Through sophisticated software, the World Axe Throwing League is able to keep their community connected and engaged through quarantine-based matches where you can still compete in leagues.

QATL competitors from all over the world have all built axe throwing targets in their backyards, inside their garages or in their basement to compete.' "

Looks like fun! But if you have questions about competing, I don't know a thing...don't axe me. :)
