Many of the Georgia football fans that showed up at Sanford Stadium decided not to wear their school's traditional colors of red and black. Instead thousands of them showed up dressed in pink. Pink is the color associated with the fight against breast cancer. The gesture was intended to show compassion and support for their opponent's head coach. On August 19th, Coach Blake Anderson lost his wife Wendy to breast cancer. This would be his first game on the sidelines since her passing.
Dwight Standridge, a Georgia alum. tweeted out a rallying cry to Bulldog fans on Tuesday, calling for them to wear pink to the game. The movement got traction on social media, Atlanta media as well as the SEC Network. The result was a heartwarming sight indeed. Anderson called it a "completely classy and genuine act." Anderson was right.
