Behind the scenes look at Hurricane Hunters checking out Hurricane Dorian

 

While preparations for Hurricane Dorian continue in South Florida, there’s another team of people, 40 thousand feet above, working around the clock to track the storm’s wrath.

It’s all part of NOAA’s Hurricane Hunters which is based out of their Aircraft Operations Center in Lakeland.

That’s where crews take off every few hours in hopes of getting a better idea as to what we can expect here on the ground.

As a team of engineers work diligently on the G4 jet, a NOAA’s Hurricane Hunters brace for their mission; CBS12 News was the only crew there overnight as they prepared for take off, mapping out their every move.
