There are all kinds of ridiculous things on the Internet, including challenges that dare people to do incredibly dangerous things. But now there’s a new viral challenge taking over and it may be the best thing spreading on social media.
Byron Román of Phoenix, Arizona, helped the #TrashTag challenge get going when he called out bored teens in a the Facebook post below. “Take a photo of an area that needs some cleaning or maintenance, then take a photo after you have done something about it, and post it,” he wrote.
And the challenge really caught on! His post has been shared by over 300,000 people and now people of all ages from all over the world are getting involved, posting their before and after photos on Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and Facebook. Byron says he hoped to “inspire a few to do something positive” instead of making the news about Tide Pods or Bird Box. Let’s hope this #TrashTag trend continues and people keep cleaning up the planet.
