Lloyd, Rest In Peace Friend

We said goodbye to one of our own last month, Lloyd Smith. It is so hard to put into words. At first I didn't want to even share it on this platform, but then I thought, why not? We share everything here, not just work stuff, but also personal opinions, and family stuff...so it just makes sense. Lloyd was "family." Also, I talked to Lloyd's wife and she thought it would be a wonderful gesture. Plus so many people n the Mobile area knew and loved Lloyd. He was an Account Rep for over 20 years for 95KSJ/iHeartRadio, a solid staple in our building. One of the things the "boss" said about him rings true to everyone who knew him...he was one of the good guys.

In radio, we usually have the Talent (the on-air people) and the Salespeople (account representatives) who will interact on as regular basis with our advertisers. One of them, Eastern Shore Shoe Hospital/The Boot Store, Lloyd was the Account Rep. Over the years, we have done many many live remote broadcasts there, and we still will, but I almost can't bear to think of how it will be without him there. The ladies on the Broadcast Podcast (Mary, Ariel, Johnna, and myself) talk about how people deal with grief differently, scroll down to hear. Also at the bottom, Dan and I gave our goodbye on the air, definitely not enough time to say what we wanted.

The Mobile Kidney Walk is this Saturday March 16th (Reg at 8am; Walk at 9am) at UMS Wright. Family and friends are doing this for Lloyd. Please come walk Saturday and/or donate to Team iHeart Lloyd if you can. Here's more info on the event:

"The annual Mobile Kidney Walk is the Alabama Kidney Foundation's premier fundraising event. Proceeds assist South Alabama's kidney patients in need through the Foundation's Financial Assistance Program. The Financial Assistance Program serves low-income dialysis patients by helping them with necessities, such as high utility bills, prescription medications and transportation to and from life-saving dialysis treatments.

The 2019 Mobile Kidney Walk is taking place on Saturday, March 16th at UMS-Wright Preparatory School's Ervin S. Cooper Stadium. Registration will begin at 8:00 am and the Walk will begin at 9:00 am. There will be fun children's activities, door prizes, live entertainment, complimentary food and beverages, and much more!"
