The Lauderhill Fire Department in Florida recently surprised an expecting mom with a baby shower and a new home after she lost everything in a fire. Nicola Taylor’s apartment was destroyed in the blaze, along with everything the mama-to-be had gotten from a baby shower just two days before.
Captain Jerry Gonzalez says it was emotional for the firefighters, seeing the burned up baby items. They felt compelled to help this family, so they collected donations of everything from baby clothes, to gift cards, to jewelry. But that wasn’t all...
"The members of the fire department, the community, the people have donated. We were able to get you a new lease, a new apartment," Gonzalez says as he hands Taylor the keys. "We've covered your deposit and a few months rent."
"God is amazing," Taylor says. "This is more stuff than I had. Thank you."
