This Saturday and Sunday (March 25-26) is the Beads for Doughnuts drive at Augusta Evans Special School, 6301 Biloxi Ave in Mobile.
Mardi Gras bead donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at the school.
Everyone who donates a 12-lb. bag of beads (about the size of a regular grocery bag) will receive a voucher for one dozen regular glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts!
This is a win-win-win! You get doughnuts, the students get a learning opportunity, and the schools raises needed funds.
The students sort and package the beads and sell them to mystic societies; proceeds benefit programs at the school. This is such a wonderful program because the students learn job training skills and earn rewards for their work!
