MoonPie Over Mobile 2022

Downtown Mobile, AL

MoonPie Over Mobile will be a Rocking Celebration in 2022!

Ring in the new year in downtown Mobile with a giant electronic MoonPie dropping as rock legend Third Eye Blind kick-off 2023 with a bang! This free event, in its 15th year, has grown to more than 50,000 revelers filling the streets with the festive vibe Mobile is known for. This year’s headliner, Third Eye Blind, will rock us out of 2022 in style. Since 1997, San Francisco’s Third Eye Blind has recorded five best-selling albums and assembled one career retrospective. Led by Stephan Jenkins, 3EB has earned worldwide success with hits such as Semi-Charmed Life, How’s It Going to Be, Jumper and Never Let You Go. Third Eye Blind’s 2021 album Our Bande Apart was recorded when lockdown ended, with Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast and Ryan Olson of Poliça. The band has continued to gain artistic clarification—and a fanbase that is larger, younger and more dedicated than ever!

We are excited to announce TWO opening acts this year - The Red Clay Strays and, singer and certified platinum songwriter, Levon Gray. Fresh off their debut album national tour, The Red Clay Strays will roll into town “with a sound as classic as the crackling of a Sun Records vinyl still spinning somewhere in Memphis, yet as fresh as the musical stylings of the 21st century.” Levon Gray, official songwriter for Kane Brown, has been working on some genre breaking new projects that he is thrilled to share with the world! Local talent, DJ Blayze, will be spinning tunes between acts.

Festivities on NYE include a newly added Kids Zone with activities taking place earlier in the day (details TBA), resolution wall, the cutting of the world’s largest, edible MoonPie baked by Chattanooga Bakery, and a second line parade led by the Port City Secondliners and the Jukebox Brass Band. Moments before midnight, 3EB will count us down into the new year as the street party peaks with the ceremonial dropping of the world’s largest, electronic MoonPie, laser light show and an epic display of fireworks as the clock strikes 2023.

The 12-foot-tall MoonPie will descend from the 34-story RSA Trustmark skyrise to welcome in the new year and the beginning of Mobile’s Mardi Gras season.

Guaranteed to be the best New Year’s Eve celebration in the South, it’s the perfect time to experience the magic of Mobile.
