(September 15, 2025) – In a heartwarming surprise that lit up Grand Bay Middle School, the 68 Ventures Bowl awarded Justine Wilson, a passionate 6th grade U.S. history teacher, a $1,000 grant as part of the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers Week (EYFT). The grant honors Mrs. Wilson’s unwavering commitment to her students and her exceptional impact as an educator.
With cheers and applause echoing through the halls, Mrs. Wilson was recognized not just for her dedication, but for the spark she brings to the classroom every day. Her love for history and her students has made her a standout in Mobile County—and now, she’s being celebrated on a national stage.
The 68 Ventures Bowl is proud to play a role in EYFT, a nationwide initiative powered by the CFP Foundation that champions the heroes of education. Through its partnership with DonorsChoose, the Foundation has invested over $92 million in classrooms across the country, helping educators like Mrs. Wilson go the extra mile.
But the celebration doesn’t stop there.
The Bowl also announced an exciting new initiative: 10 more teachers will be honored with $1,000 grants in the coming weeks! Starting October 8, one teacher will be selected each week—and the community is invited to help spotlight these everyday champions through the Nominate a Teacher program. Mrs. Wilson’s accolades speak volumes. Named the 2025 Mobile County Middle School Teacher of the Year, she brings 13 years of experience to her role as Social Studies Department Chair and Scholars Bowl Coach. A proud graduate of Satsuma High School and the University of South Alabama, she’s been shaping young minds with a deep appreciation for history and a vision for their future.
