An accomplished executive leader with over 20 years of experience in healthcare management developing and

successfully executing complex strategic plans in highly competitive markets and leading operations in hospital and

ambulatory settings, including managing major orthopedic service lines and large surgery centers; led multiple physician

A regional healthcare system with $2 billion in net revenues, 5 hospitals, 3 surgery centers, over 11,000 employees and a

medical staff of over 3,500; recognized as a top orthopedic and spine healthcare system, and the market leader in the

Scottsdale and North Phoenix area.

Directly responsible for the overall strategic direction and operations for the orthopedic service line for the health system

which includes responsibilities for the orthopedic, orthopedic trauma, and spine service line across all five (5) acute care

hospitals and 3 ambulatory surgery centers generating over $311M in net revenues and $146M in contribution margin for

the system. Developed and lead one of the largest orthopedic co-management agreements in the country with over 90

physicians.

Selected Accomplishments:

 Developed, negotiated, and operationalized one of the largest orthopedic Co-Management agreements in the

country, including 90+ independent orthopedic and spine surgeons, representing 26+ different medical groups

 Increased orthopedic and spine Net Revenue 10% from 2016 – 2018 as a result of the co-management structure,

recruitment of physicians (including new and from competing health systems) and supply chain pricing strategies

 Utilized a team approach between orthopedic physician dyad leader and Quality department to create orthopedic

Co-management Quality metrics which focused on the Triple Aim to improve outcomes, increase patient

satisfaction and reduce costs. These include decreased readmission and major complications rates, increased

patient satisfaction results and renegotiated vendor agreements

 Co-chair the Network Orthopedic Committee Governing Board with physician dyad leader, orthopedic surgeon

representatives and Sr. Administrative leaders

 Created a physician recruitment plan, successfully recruited 20+ surgeons to address the needs of the health system

as well as the needs of our community

 Re-established trust between physicians and administration through relationship building, and actively involving

physicians in key decisions

 Facilitated the development of a total knee care pathway with over 30 orthopedic surgeons participating;

standardized care, reduced cost, reduced physician variation, and improved reliability

 Created new business plans that enhanced the orthopedic service line, while driving new top-line revenue for the

Network; plans included robotics (orthopedic and spine) $4.5M, and new service line programs for ambulatory

surgery centers, generating in excess of $20M in new 1st year revenues

 Worked with primary care physicians to increase referrals to aligned orthopedic and spine physicians through the

creation of a Preferred Provider network

 Developed relationships with medical tourism companies to attract over 150 patients for orthopedic and spine

surgeries, generating over $2.5M in net revenue and incremental surgical volume

 Work closely between surgeons and Supply Chain, through the use of data analytics, to reduce costs, vendor

variation, and variety, resulting in over $6.5M in savings in 2018

Directly responsible for the operations and strategic development of a 20-bed rehabilitation hospital, conversion of a

skilled nursing facility, (12) orthopedic and spine physicians; created and operationalized an orthopedic, ENT and urology

co-management agreement; operational management of (25) clinical staff; held various department responsibilities at

different times over the course of my career at Tanner

Selected Accomplishments:

 Created 5-year strategic plan for inpatient rehabilitation facility to include revenue impact for health system

collaboratively with hospital administrators, physicians and other stakeholders

 Developed new 20-bed Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (CIRF); Led CON submittal and

developed CIRF facility with revenues in excess of $4.8m in Year 1

 Provided due diligence and analyses of Skilled Nursing facility and redeployed resources to Critical Access

hospital, resulting in increased utilization and revenues for Health System

 Involved surgeons and multiple stakeholders in the creation of a new over-arching brand, to form a new vision for

Orthopedics, creating new marketing programs and demonstrating the competitive advantages versus traveling

outside the market area, resulting in 9-14% increases yearly of orthopedic and spine surgical growth

 Developed Orthopedic and other surgical specialties co-management models, encompassing an incentive structure

with national and local quality metric goals; Chaired co-management meetings between surgeons and hospital

administration

 Developed plans towards regaining market share, improving physician access, quality outcomes, and increasing

revenues, resulting in growth of orthopedic and spine services within PSA

 Aggressively recruited 3 new surgeons to market; met community need via the State data and Needs Assessment

 Actively market CIPF admissions criteria to physicians and educate community on resources available, keeping

census between 80-90% at all times

 Standardized multiple order sets into a single working document, creating ease of use for physicians and staff,

resulting in more consistent and predictable patient outcomes

 Expanded physical and occupational therapy outsourced contract to include additional quality and efficiency

measures resulting in the largest outsourced contract for the health system and continuous patient care

 Coordinated community outreach programs which resulted in increased exposure for the local hospitals and

physicians

Administrator & CEO, Shelby Baptist Ambulatory Surgery Center, LLC - Alabaster, AL 2006 - 2009

Health Inventures, LLC - Parent Company - Broomfield, CO

Shelby Baptist ASC was a free-standing, multi-specialty, outpatient surgery center joint venture between surgeons and a

local hospital; consisted of (4) OR’s, (2) Procedure rooms and 32 physician investors.

Directly responsible for the initial development of center, gaining physician investors, and ultimately leading the

operations of the JV surgery center

Selected Accomplishments:

 Led the solicitation of investments from 32 surgeons in this new surgery center

 Created budget and new revenue sources for center with ROI > 24%

 Decreased Days in A/R from 45 to 28

 Increased Cash Collections 14% in 2009

 Strategically developed business plan through collaboration between ASC Board and hospital administration

 Actively worked with Payer Relations team to establish favorable reimbursement contracts

 Operational management of 45 business and clinical personnel
