HUEYTOWN, Alabama -- Hueytown police had a slithery situation on its hands this holiday weekend.
When a report came in about a snake splashing around in a toilet, officers had no choice but to dive in.
Chief Chuck Hagler shared pictures of the slimy situation on the department's Facebook page.
Officer Thompson, according to the page, was the one who fished the snake out. She captured the poisonous cottonmouth—described as having "substantial fangs"—alive. The snake will be released in the "appropriate area."
"Law enforcement is called upon to deal with all kinds of situations that most people never think about," wrote Hagler. "No one outside of the job would even believe half my snake stories!"
The snake, said police, did not come in through the toilet.
"It just wanted to find a nice pool of water to curl up in," they said.
